Coming Home: 

 

Kinderwood has always been more than a preschool. For generations, it has been a place where Adirondack children take their first steps into a larger community - learning, playing, exploring, and growing alongside the families and neighbors who make this region home.

Now, Kinderwood has come home in a very special way.

​

Our new property is, remarkably, the same place where Kinderwood’s story first began. This was our founder, Mirnie Kashiwa's, family home which once hosted the original Kinderwood program decades ago. After years of growth, change, and generations of children passing through our doors, we have found our way back to the place where it all started.

​

This homecoming represents both a celebration of Kinderwood’s history and an investment in its future.

​

Kinderwood now has a permanent home with the space and flexibility to think beyond the traditional classroom. This property gives us the opportunity to expand educational and enrichment programming, strengthen our connection to the outdoors, serve children across a broader range of ages, and develop new opportunities that respond to the changing needs of local families. Just as importantly, this new chapter allows Kinderwood to deepen its role within the greater Adirondack community. Access to high-quality early childhood education and family programming is an essential part of creating a region where families can build lasting lives. When parents have dependable, enriching opportunities for their children, they are better able to work, participate in their communities, and put down roots here.

We believe that supporting Adirondack children means supporting Adirondack families - and that strong families are essential to strong, vibrant year-round communities.

Our new home gives Kinderwood the foundation to continue doing exactly that: honoring the program generations of families have loved while creating new possibilities for the families who live, work, and play in the Adirondacks today.

We have come full circle, but we are only beginning this next chapter.
