About

Mission
The Kinderwood Program of Early Education, LTD is a private not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the cognitive, affective and practical developmental needs of preschool children in the Central Adirondacks.

Founded in 1969 in Mirnie Kashiwa’s home, the goal of the Kinderwood Program was to educate children and inspire them with the wonders of the natural Adirondack environment.

5o years later, the program is a legacy of the Old Forge community that that fosters individualized academics, creativity, resilience, curiosity, teamwork and so much more for all children at a uniquely low cost.

In Loving Memory
"The state government of New York has, without funds, mandated existence of Early Education for 4-year-olds for over 50 years. What we did here was offer our community a professional, personalized service where New York State’s efforts failed.”
